Ships have adventures pop up that are multiple choice with options added based on the ship and crew. Planets are simplistic: the player is running the space program, not the ‘empire’ so your mainly expanding your program’s holdings that handle construction, training, research, and similar. The largest ships might have bays that can contain smaller ships and crews in the dozens. Once a ship is built it is crewed by filling crew slots from a pool of characters with various traits. Ship classes are by how many modules they can equip or various kinds with the initial ship option becoming a possibly shuttle for later vessels. Maybe bring back the early Stellaris idea of multiple methods as there will be less empire-battling.īuilding ships is a major activity and it’s assumed you spend a lot of time here. Maybe start with a moon mission in the smallest ship, then send others to build up science and resources.Įventually you unlock some sort of FTL and can start sending expeditions to other worlds. So you have a homeworld and in the initial phase design and launch ships that do exploration missions to worlds in your system.
